Dave Leonard

There is no substitute for experience and hard work.  Dedication to the matter-at-hand with focus and determination, all with a genuine interest in and caring for, client needs.  This background and value set along with over 22 years of tried-and-true legal experience is what Dave Leonard brings to Smith Dollar.  Whether defending or prosecuting a lawsuit, contract review and advisement, or complex litigation and settlement negotiations, Dave had been there and has the skill set to give the client confidence knowing that their legal matter is being handled diligently, professionally, and competently.  

Dave’s focus is on construction, business and real estate law.  He gained practical experience in these areas by not only being a small business owner himself, but for many years, was general counsel to a mid-sized general contracting construction company, managing all aspects from licensing and contract negotiation to payment disputes and final occupancy.  

Dave is also a litigator, handling cases on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, representing both owners and contractors in civil trials, arbitration, and mediation. 

The law is complex and with the State of California being so highly regulated, business owners are faced with constant challenges to address.  Dave enjoys using his knowledge, experience and skills, to navigate through these challenges in an effort to obtain the best possible results for his clients.
